And finally… EuroMillions winner to keep job as roofer

EuroMillionsScotland’s newest millionaire is to celebrate his fortune with a fortnight’s holiday but will carry on working as a roofer when he returns.

John Edmond, 32, from Edinburgh, won £1 million in the EuroMillions Mega Friday draw.

He and his wife Amanda, 31, from Port Seton, will holiday in Bali, Thailand or the Maldives, with their children.

But the newly declared millionaire revealed he will still have to ask his boss for time off work – after he decided not to give up the day job at Midlothian Roofing Services.

The couple have now had their claim validated and said they were now ready to change their lives forever.

He told The Herald: “This is absolutely life changing for us and neither Amanda nor I slept a wink the night when we realised we had won the money and the holiday.

“Going to somewhere like the Maldives could only have been a dream ambition up to not but this allows us to give ourselves and our two girls the trip of a lifetime and we will try to get it all arranged soon.

“The money will allow us to move out of our current two-bedroom house, where the girls share a room, into one where they will each have their own bedroom and that again was only an ambition until now.

“We will also be looking to upgrade our old 10-plate Nissan Qashqai now we have the means to do so.”

Mr Edmond has worked as a roofer since he was 16.

Mrs Edmond has already given up her job as a customer adviser.

But Mr Edmond said: “Working is all I have ever known and we are really busy just now so I am hoping to carry on working at least until we get our heads around everything that has happened.”

Mr Edmond is a regular National Lottery player, buying tickets every week.
