And finally… from estate to estate

And finally... from estate to estate

A banker, originally from a Welsh council estate, is set to sell his renovated folly in Wales, featured on the 2009 edition of Grand Designs, for a price of £1.85 million.

The dilapidated property, spread over 24 acres, was purchased and refurbished by Dean Berry and wife Sarah. The updated structure blends the old folly with a modern extension, boasting an open-plan living area. The restoration journey of this couple, returning to Wales from London, was captured by Grand Designs.

The acquisition cost for the Newport plot was £1m, but the total expenditure on the project remained undisclosed. The property, once a hunting lodge for the Sheriff of Monmouth, is perched atop a hill with panoramic views of the Vale of Usk.

The six-bedroom house, five with en-suites, also features a cinema room and a glass extension. The estate includes formal gardens, several outbuildings, and a leisure building with an indoor pool. The property is being marketed by Fine and Country estate agents.
