The three-bedroom home, valued at $500,000 (around £400,000), was built in Hawaiian Paradise Park, which is divided into a number of one-acre lots.

PJ’s Construction inadvertently built the property on a lot adjacent to the intended one, and the issue was not discovered until after it was sold.

The construction company subsequently offered to either swap lots or to sell the house to the lot owner at a discount – both of which the owner refused.

Anne Reynolds bought the one-acre lot in 2018 to host meditative healing women’s retreats and said her chosen lot had “a sacredness to it… [and] all the right qualities”.

A judge has ordered the house to be demolished, but said the land does not have to be restored to its original condition, Hawaii News Now reports.
