Call Your Mother at Cadworks

Recent visitors to FORE Partnership’s Cadworks in Glasgow City Centre will have seen the building’s latest addition – a bright green telephone box in the entrance foyer.

The telephone box, entitled ‘Call Your Mother’, is an installation by Force of Nature that was created for COP26 and proved remarkably popular during the climate conference.

The installation enables people to open up about their feelings on the climate crisis and connect with others who feel the same way. The box forms part of COP26’s lasting legacy, a year on from the global event.

Visitors to Cadworks are invited to record a message about their hopes, despair, anger, or commitment to change in the face of the climate emergency.

Call Your Mother – the mother being Mother Earth – is a space to create messages to the human race, those in power, and fellow changemakers. The telephone box in Cadworks’ foyer acts as a starting point for these conversations.

All text, audio and video submitted for Call Your Mother will join the broader global tapestry of people driving sustainability beyond the legacy of COP26.

Force of Nature works with researchers, using social channels, to promote the underrepresented voices of climate activists around the world. They aim to build a community through having the difficult conversations and seeing the vulnerability and emotion of young people around climate change as a strength and not a weakness.

Force of Nature’s installation at Cadworks underlines FORE Partnership’s drive and determination to change the face of workspaces and create sea change in how we build and operate commercial buildings. Cadworks has set new benchmarks for environmental standards in Glasgow with a cycle-in access ramp, anti-pollution paint, and parking for bicycles only.

FORE’s managing partner, Basil Demeroutis, said: “Through the entire design and build of Cadworks, we have been determined to showcase our vision for a cleaner and more sustainable future. Call Your Mother sits perfectly with our drive to lead our industry to do better and to listen to the voices of the upcoming generation who rightly expect their workplaces to be much more respectful to the planet.”

To experience ‘Call Your Mother’, please visit Cadworks at the corner of Cadogan and West Campbell Streets.
