And finally… not so bright
A man has been ordered to demolish a £500,000 home illegally built during lockdown after neighbours complained about light pollution.
The barn-style home, erected on agricultural land without planning permission, drew attention because of its large glazed windows, which locals said lit up at night like “an alien invasion from Mars”.
Owner Tony Harvey has now been ordered by Somerset Council to tear the building down, with two applications for retrospective planning permission having been refused, The Telegraph reports.
Mr Harvey has appealed the enforcement notice and the matter is now being examined by the planning inspectorate.
