And finally… Plans unveiled for €300m Eiffel Tower revamp

The iconic Eiffel Tower is set to undergo a €300 million (£263m) programme of enhancements to the Eiffel Tower as the city bids to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo announced she would lodge plans with the local planning authority to renovate and modernise the tower with the creation of new reception areas, better management of queues, upgrades to the one of the lower levels and some of the elevators, extensive painting and improved security. The investments would amount to €20m a year for 15 years.

Mayor Hidalgo aims to enhance the quality of culture and tourism as the city is a candidate for hosting the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Expo 2025.
