And finally… playtime’s over
A children’s playpark is under threat due to its proximity to the home of Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance.
Local families were disappointed when the US Secret Service shut down Judy Lowe Neighbourhood Park in Alexandria, Virginia late last month, Washingtonian reports.
The park is said to be too close to the Del Ray home of Senator Vance, who was picked in July as Trump’s prospective vice-president.
From Saturday, the park has been allowed to open intermittently, with details of its opening hours to be shared online and through signage.
It is not clear whether the park – which has the only children’s labyrinth of its kind in Alexandria – will simply be open when Senator Vance is not staying in the area.
A spokesperson for the US Secret Service said: “Out of concern for operational security, the US Secret Service does not discuss the means or methods used for our protective operations.”
