And finally… roofers to shed pounds for charity
Pitched roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is stepping into 2023 with its first fundraising event, a sponsored charity weight loss.
The challenge will take place between 3rd January 2023 and 3rd March 2023, with an ambitious combined 20 stone loss target for 20 members of the team, with the aim to raise £2,000.
Russell Roof Tiles wants to focus this year’s weight loss challenge on health and wellbeing and are keen to support its team in carrying out a sensible, controlled, and safe weight loss and help motivate them to lose any extra festive weight.
The firm has previously encouraged its staff with charity weight loss challenges and is hoping to replicate the success from previous years, to encourage wellbeing and overall fitness of the team.
The money raised will go towards helping local communities as part of the Russell Roof Tiles Give for Good programme, which raised over £55,000 in 2022, and is kicking off the new year with an initiative encouraging the team to lose weight, get fit and healthy and shed any spare Christmas pounds that have crept on over the festive season.
Team members from the Russell Roof Tiles Lockerbie site, head office, customer services, and sales, have pledged £100, and signed up to agree to lose a minimum of a stone, by pledging £100.
If the team members reach their goal of losing a stone, Russell Roof Tiles donate £100 to the fund, and give the team their cash back.
The money raised will go towards the manufacturer’s Give 4 Good where a number of local charities and groups receive a share to support the great work they are doing in the local area.
Andrew Hayward, managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, who will also be taking part in the weight loss initiative himself, said: “We’re kicking off 2023 and our fundraising efforts off with the return of our weight loss challenge. This is the perfect team challenge to not only support worthy, local causes but also to encourage anyone that’s after shedding a few of those Christmas pounds that may have crept on over the winter.
“We’re excited to continue our charity efforts into the new year, and fundraise through more events that we’re soon to announce, and support our local community even more.”
