And finally... Scots students design building blocks of Moon base

The University of Strathclyde students are working on the power generation, storage and distribution system that would support a Moon base, the first of which could be up and running by the end the decade.

The IGLUNA 2020 initiative is aiming to create concepts and then design and manufacture prototypes for a future European Space Agency (ESA) lunar base on the moon.

The eight-strong Strathclyde team’s work is focused on the power systems of the base and how to provide the power required for everything from life support systems to scientific research.

Later this year the group will travel to Switzerland to present their ideas at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), while the ESA have targeted creating a moon base by the end of the decade.
