A change-of-use application seeking backdated approval was submitted for 2 Blackfriars Road, on the corner with High Street.

Officers can take enforcement action to get the pizza machine removed if they decide it is in the public interest.

The applicant has the right to appeal to councillors in an effort to get the decision overturned.

Planners said use of the premises as a hot food takeaway meant the permitted percentage of such uses in that block had been exceeded.

They also said noise, activity and cooking fumes “would unacceptably impact on the residential amenity of neighbouring properties”.

Their decision notice further stated that inadequate information had been provided about the specification and maintenance of the ventilation system and that the proposed method was not an externally mounted high level flue as required by planning guidance.

The machine is the first of its kind in Scotland and has been operating since November. It has two ovens and can hold nearly 100 pizzas.
