The conditions of the Calais camp known as the Jungle has been a source of controversy on both sides of the channel, with rights groups and the migrants themselves claiming the situation is inhumane.
But the BBC reports that some people have actually moved there by choice.
Ryan Ferrier, a builder from Edinburgh travelled to help three months ago and ended up staying.
