And finally... three generations building family legacy at Persimmon West Scotland

From a young labourer starting his journey to an award-winning joiner, three generations of the same family proudly contribute to the success of Persimmon West Scotland.

Three generations of the same family are making their mark at the housebuilder, showcasing the vital role of skilled trades across the industry.

Zak Mackie, 18, from Faifley, Glasgow, has recently joined the company as a labourer, eager to build a bright future in construction. Inspired by the family legacy of craftsmanship and dedication, Zak is following in the footsteps of his uncle, David Anderson, and grandfather, Jim Anderson.

David Anderson, 41, a customer care joiner from Blackridge, West Lothian, has been with Persimmon for 23 years. He is not only a role model for Zak but a celebrated employee, having won the prestigious Unsung Hero Award at Persimmon’s annual awards ceremony, standing out among 6,000 colleagues across the UK.

Jim Anderson, 71, from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, is a veteran in the trade and has spent the past 25 years as a customer care joiner at Persimmon.

Chris Logan, managing director of Persimmon West Scotland, said: “The Anderson family embodies the values we hold dear—dedication, skill, and a commitment to quality.

“Seeing three generations work together is a testament to the opportunities our industry offers and the impact of a strong family legacy in homebuilding.”

Commenting on his new role, Zak said: “Hearing about my uncle and grandfather’s work made me want to be a part of Persimmon Homes.

“I’m learning so much already, and I’m excited to carry on the family tradition of building homes that people can be proud of.”

Reflecting on his time at Persimmon, David Anderson said: “Winning the Unsung Hero Award was a proud moment, but being able to work alongside my nephew and father in the same company is an even greater honour.

“It’s amazing to see Zak starting out, knowing he has such a bright future ahead in this industry.”

With Zak starting his journey and David and Jim continuing to excel in their roles, the Anderson family exemplifies the enduring impact of teamwork and passion across generations at Persimmon West Scotland.
