And finally… too big for your boots

A printer which eventually turned out to be too big for its designated room has led to spiralling costs for Irish parliamentary authorities.

And finally... too big for your boots

The printer, which was meant to be installed in Ireland’s lower house of parliament, the Dáil, was found to be too big.

Around €1.4 million has been spent on the printer itself, but efforts to renovate the room to make it bigger have incurred even more costs, The Irish Times reports.

The parliament has now spent around €315,000 on building costs, while the separate Office of Public Works has incurred its own costs of around €220,000, and outsourcing has cost €100,000.

Meanwhile, storage costs for the oversized printer have amounted to nearly €15,000, bringing the total spent to nearly €2 million.
