And finally… UK’s first 3D zebra crossing unveiled
Infrastructure services firm FM Conway has installed what is thought to be the UK’s first three-dimensional road markings on a zebra crossing to get drivers to slow down.
The firm is working with Westminster City Council in St John’s Wood, where it currently holds a highways term maintenance contract.

The optical illusion, which creates a floating effect, has been introduced as part of a 12-month trial.
When the thermoplastic markings are melted on to the road surface, some clever use of perspective is designed to create a 3D effect that aims to encourage drivers to lower their speed when approaching crossings, improving safety for pedestrians and other road users.

The AA said it was “worth a try” but warned the safety of both drivers and pedestrians needed to be monitored.
