And finally…Dundee V&A work to be broadcast live
The progress of Scotland’s most exciting construction project is to be streamed live over the internet.
Officials behind Dundee’s showpiece £80 million V&A building have announced that a camera is to be installed on the site allowing a unique opportunity to watch the spectacular building emerge from the banks of the beautiful River Tay.
Inititally the plan is for still images to be captured and posted on the V&A Dundee Twitter feed every Friday.
However, this will move on to live images as the centrepiece of the Dundee waterfront redevelopment starts to rise from the ground.
“These images are the first of a whole host of things we have planned to keep the public in touch with the construction of the V&A,” a spokeswoman said.
“At the moment, there is no live feed because the site hasn’t changed much and we don’t want to bore people.
“We are, however, really looking forward to showing people exactly what is being done down there.”
City development convener Will Dawson said the webcam is a great way of giving people regular updates of what is happening at the waterfront.
“People are very interested in what’s happening on the site and it will be very busy over the coming years,” he said.
“Any chance that people — not just in Dundee but all over the world — have to keep an eye on what’s happening is fantastic.
“I hope the V&A continue to release images of the progress on a regular basis.”
Construction work on Japanese architect Kengo Kuma’s vision began in March and is due to open to the public in 2018.
