And finally…hotel room with a view – but no walls
A hotel has opened in the Swiss Alps –without any walls.
Null Stern Hotels, which translates from German as Zero Star Hotels, is the brainchild of brothers Frank and Patrik Riklin, who opened their first property inside of a former nuclear bunker in Teufen, Switzerland in 2009.
Their latest project a more minimalist one as it is simply a double bed and a pair of nightstands situated in the mountains of Switzerland.
The first of the “rooms” was opened in the remote south-eastern Safiental region of the country, located at a height of 1,970 metres (6,463 feet) above sea level in the mountains of the canton of Grisons.
It boasts 360-degree views of the stunning surrounding landscape and even comes with personal butler service.
The butlers also double as local farmers and greet guests in the morning with hot coffee and organic salami sandwiches.
But if the concept sounds like the epitome of blissful seclusion, the “hotel” lacks common amenities, other than walls, which some may consider essential, such as a bathroom or shower.
But if its romance and simplicity you’re seeking, few if any other hotels will be able to compete with its nighttime view of the stars.
Plus, the room isn’t limited to the rich and the famous.
One night spent at the mountainside room will cost guests roughly £197 (250 CHF).
And last-minute cancellations are acceptable if the weather doesn’t cooperate but when it does rain the room is covered with an agricultural protection sheet.
