Arc-Tech delivers extensive refurbishment to Ovo Energy Scottish HQ

The Scottish headquarters of OVO Energy has received an extensive Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) refurbishment thanks to Arc-Tech (Scotland).

Based on Cadogan Street in Glasgow’s city centre, OVO operates across four floors of the ‘Cadworks’, the city’s first-ever operational net zero carbon building.

Spanning nearly 34,000 sq. ft. of floor space used for training and events for OVO employees and clients, the refurbishment was principally led by main contractor Linear Design and Construct, which was responsible for the installation of new internal stairs, walls, doors, finishes and FF&E installations.

Arc-Tech was appointed by Linear to undertake the delivery of all M&E services. Intelligent lighting controls, site-wide life safety integrations and sustainable HVAC technologies to aid energy efficiency and improve air quality were among the breadth of services included in the extensive works package.

The contract is the second to have been completed between the two firms within the last six months and forms part of a wider programme of project delivery.

John Gallacher, Arc-Tech (Scotland) managing director, said: “Developed by FORE Partnership, the Cadworks is a landmark building for Glasgow and is a testament to the city’s ability to attract renowned companies such as OVO Energy.

“The works package undertaken on behalf our client Linear was extensive but the end result is one that speaks for itself. A high-quality finish has been augmented by our team’s approach to workmanship with an excellent standard of installation seen throughout.

“We thank Linear for their continued support and look forward to working with them again soon.”

FORE Partnership is a London-based property investment firm and formally opened the Cadworks in 2023.

It not only features Grade A office space but also Scotland’s first cycle-in access ramp, and the first private fleet of Swifty Scooters for tenants to use free. It was recently named Scotland’s highest-scoring ‘ActiveScore’ building for its commitment to cycling and other forms of active travel.
