Arc-Tech expands care home portfolio with Clydebank project

Arc-Tech has been involved in the care sector since the company’s inception in 2016 with two successful projects undertaken on behalf of Morrison Community Care Group.

The latest 84-bed specialist facility, on which construction work began at the end of October 2018, forms part of the multi-phase regeneration of the Queens Quay in West Dunbartonshire and is being provided for West Dunbartonshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Each resident will have a private en-suite room and access to a range of amenities including activity rooms, a hairdressing salon and private, outdoor terraces and gardens, amongst others.

Arc-Tech will work in partnership with the main contractor CCG (Scotland) Ltd to deliver a design and build M&E package that includes a plant room that will link directly to a district heating network, providing heat the care home as well as the wider Queens Quay development. Other works comprise ventilation, drainage, pipework as well as electrical distribution, small power and lighting, specialist nurse call, disabled alarms, fire, CCTV, intruder alarm, door access and communications systems.

Solar PV will also be installed in order to promote long-term efficient energy use.

John Gallacher, Arc-Tech managing director, said: “The care sector is one that is expanding across Scotland. With an ageing population, the provision of quality accommodation for the elderly is becoming increasingly important. Arc-Tech has worked with West Dunbartonshire Council previously with the installation of solar PV on a residential development and we are delighted to have been given this opportunity at the Clydebank Care Home.”

Arc-Tech will be on site until the completion of the contract in spring 2020.
