Three apprentices will join the £25 million turnover company in August and embark upon a four-year, industry-recognised programme to become qualified heating engineers and electricians.

Partnering with some of Scotland’s leading colleges, each apprentice will experience a live working environment with Arc-Tech’s contracts teams specialising in the installation of mechanical, electrical and renewable services to support construction projects across the breadth of the country.

Employing over 100 skilled technical staff and tradespeople, the Glasgow-based firm has been a key advocator of youth employment since its inception in 2016, creating more than 20 apprenticeships - with a graduate retention rate over 90% – as well a wide variety of HNC / Degree traineeships in surveying and estimating.

Managing director John Gallacher highlighted this latest intake as a testament to the business’s ongoing success and a crucial component of their long-term growth strategy.

John said: “I am delighted to announce our trade apprentice intake for a seventh straight year during Scottish Apprenticeship Week.

“Building services is a crucial arm of construction that is only going to become more important over the coming years as our industry transitions to net zero.

“With the fast-evolving nature of building standards and technologies, it is essential Arc-Tech (Scotland) and the sector continues to invest in skills replenishment so that we are capable of meeting the needs of our clients now and in the future.

“Without our client’s support, we wouldn’t have the means to create these opportunities so I am incredibly thankful for their business and the continued efforts of our staff who are the reason behind our success.

“We have taken great care to foster an environment that supports skills development. Not only have all of our apprentices graduated with flying colours, but we also have some wonderful examples of how they have evolved into new roles.

“I am extremely proud of our approach to youth employment and I, alongside everyone at Arc-Tech, look forward to welcoming our new recruits later this year.”

Working alongside John at Arc-Tech’s Glasgow HQ is Peter Dunlop, an apprentice graduate turned trainee quantity surveyor.

Peter said: “I was one of the very first apprentices to join Arc-Tech. I started out as an apprentice in 2017 but whilst I enjoyed the site environment and gained valuable skills, both technically and socially, I knew I wanted to go down a different career path so when the opportunity arose to do a traineeship, I jumped at the chance.

“A trade apprenticeship is what you make of it and it can open so many up so many different avenues for young people. I would implore anyone thinking of it to do it as it is a great opportunity that you won’t regret.”
