Architect set to reboot post-pandemic working with new practice
An award-winning designer of commercial offices, workplace interiors, leisure venues and educational buildings has launched a new architectural practice from his studio in Methven, Perthshire.

After more than 12 years working for some of the country’s top architectural practices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, Ross Ellis Stewart has taken the decision to open his own design studio.
With a track record of successful commercial office projects that include elements of flexible workspace and co-working, the new practice aims to tap into the need for existing workplaces to adapt to changes in the way we work post-pandemic.
Ellis Stewart said: “We’re seeing a shift in the way people view the workplace due to the increase in working from home. Employers, and in turn commercial landlords, are looking for solutions to make their existing office buildings more flexible and more suited to the changing needs of the workforce and to accommodate hybrid working.”
Of the move, Mr Stewart added: “I am excited to build on the success I’ve had in my design career to date and bring my knowledge and experience to my own clients. Perthshire is uniquely positioned to serve all of Scotland from one central location and with excellent transport links the practice can also reach further afield.”
In his previous roles, Ellis Stewart has developed an impressive portfolio of completed projects often with a focus on breathing new life into existing or listed buildings through careful retrofit and adaptive re-use. This sees the redevelopment of buildings that are no longer fit for purpose.
He added: “Our existing building stock can have enormous potential to meet the needs of new uses through sensitive reimagination and retrofit.”
The practice will utilize the latest 3D BIM (building information modelling) software, allowing projects to be designed and reviewed in a 3D environment.
Ellis Stewart said: “I am keen that the practice uses technology to improve the efficiency of what we do to deliver the best possible service for our clients.”
