Ark welcomes residents to new West Lothian homes
Residents have begun to move into their new energy-efficient homes in Livingston following the completion of a project to deliver 20 sustainable homes.
The development, which was constructed by The JR Group on behalf of Ark Housing Association, includes 18 apartments with a mix of one- and two-bedrooms, plus two three-bedroom houses. Six of the apartments are also fully wheelchair accessible.
Built for the future, the homes at Crusader Rise in the Dedridge area, include pioneering energy efficient technology such as solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric car charging ports.
While undertaking the project, The JR Group also supported local primary schools and nurseries in the area. Construction materials were donated to Little Flyers Nursery and Easter eggs and Christmas selection boxes were gifted to several schools and nurseries throughout Dedridge. A financial donation was also made to Crusader Court Housing Care.
Andrew Dallas, projects director at The JR Group, said: “We have delivered 20 high-quality, sustainable homes in Livingston which were made available for social rent. It is great to see residents begin to move into these homes, particularly at a time when new affordable homes are much-needed right across the country.
“It is also becoming increasingly important that new homes are equipped for the future. These homes include a number of sustainable elements that will help to keep energy costs down and lower their carbon footprint.
“There are a number of schools and nurseries located close to Crusader Rise which we supported with various donations while undertaking the project. It is a core part of the business to support the wider communities we are building in where we can.”
The JR Group worked alongside construction and property consultants, Summers Inman; QB Wood Architects and Fairhurst engineers to deliver the project.
The Crusader Rise project marked the first with Ark Housing Association; however, the construction business has a proven track record in Livingston, having previously completed a collection of socially rented properties on the former St Paul’s Church in Ladywell.
