The flagship development will have the capacity to accommodate more than 450 staff across a number of functions and underlines the company’s ambitions for continued growth as it further cements its roots in Fife, where the Rosyth Dockyard has stood for more than 100 years.

The accommodation will be built within the footprint of the current Babcock site. The demolition of an existing building is expected to begin in early 2016 making way for the new 73,000 sq ft development.

The building will complement the wider site and acknowledge the responsibilities Babcock has around safety, access, irregular working hours and maintenance.

The engineering centre will be predominantly an open plan design, supplemented with meeting rooms, informal collaboration work areas, dining facilities and social spaces for staff.

Full planning consent has been granted by Fife Council who welcomed the announcement from Babcock that it is set to develop a new multi- million pound state-of-the-art engineering centre at its Rosyth facilities, as part of an ongoing programme of investment on the Fife site.
