BakerHicks boosts life sciences and industry offering with senior appointments
Multi-disciplinary design, engineering and project delivery company BakerHicks has appointed Zac Meadows and Christopher Buck to senior roles to support the company’s continued growth in the life sciences and industry sector.
Zac Meadows takes on the new role of operations manager for life sciences and manufacturing, with responsibility for clients in Scotland and the north of England. A chartered chemical engineer by profession, Zac brings over two decades of experience within the process industries, including having worked client-side with AstraZeneca, Avecia and Fujifilm.
His sector knowledge spans the pharmaceutical, speciality chemicals and petrochemical industries, with experience across the project lifecycle from process and technology development, through feasibility and pre-FEED studies, to detailed design and commissioning. He was also formerly a director of Britest, the not-for-profit membership body that champions best-practice in chemical and biochemical process design and implementation.
Christopher Buck has been appointed sector lead, industrial and manufacturing. He will be responsible for strategy and business development, as well as overseeing the delivery of current and future projects across the UK and providing support to the company’s European division.
He has been tasked with broadening the company’s involvement within the industrial sector, looking to become a trusted advisor to clients within the food and beverage, consumer products, and high tech (such as automation, science and aerospace) industries, as well as those in new and emerging markets involved with green energy.
A process engineer and project manager, Christopher has spent the last ten years as a key account manager and trusted advisor to major brands. Like Zac, he has also previously worked client-side, working with Tate & Lyle and Pfizer, amongst others, building an in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process industry.
His experience spans more than 35 years, delivering design and build, and EPC/EPCM contracts internationally for global blue-chip companies. He also has a keen interest in maritime and materials handling design and sits on the PIANC (World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) working group for the new international design standard for flexible ports.
Commenting on their appointments, Mark Dickson, managing director for life sciences and industry at BakerHicks, said: “Both Zac and Christopher have established reputations within our industry for their commitment to clients’ needs and a detailed understanding of multi-disciplinary projects. Their experience spans a wide range of projects and markets, and this will be invaluable as we look to further grow our business.”
Zac and Christopher join Tony Mills, who is responsible for clients in southern England, as part of the wider life sciences and industry team in the UK. Both will also work closely with the business’ European arm.
