BAM Nuttall set to win £19m Sighthill bridge deal

Members of Glasgow City Council are scheduled to meet on Thursday when they are expected to award the £19 million contract to BAM Nuttall Ltd.

A report submitted to councillors states that the new bridge will take 79 weeks to build and is expected to be completed by August 2021.

The work includes demolition of the existing North Wallace Street footbridge; construction of a new footbridge including wing walls and ramps on both approaches and retaining walls on the south approach.

It also covers landscaping (including a five-year soft landscaping maintenance period); public realm; and demolition of an existing high mast light and construction of two new high mast lights.

Designed by Jacobs, the new bridge forms part of a £250m redevelopment plan for the Sighthill area of Glasgow, which aims to transform existing residential and public open space into a new and improved development.

A schools campus, community facilities, low-level housing and parkland will also feature.
