Bancon Group golf day raises £10,000
Bancon Group held its inaugural charity golf event at Newmachar Golf Club last month.
The company welcomed 84 players who enjoyed a coffee and breakfast roll followed by a shotgun start round of golf on the stunning Hawkshill course. After the game, the players enjoyed lunch at the clubhouse, followed by prize giving, a charity raffle and an auction.
The competition was fierce, but the first-place winning team ‘Claret Jug’ went to McLean Roofing with second place going to Kore Solutions.
Huge thanks were extended to the event’s sponsors Hutcheon Services, which provided the goody bags, General & Technical, which sponsored the first-place team prizes, RG Electrical, which sponsored the second-place team prizes, Deeside Timberframe, which sponsored the two closest to the pin prizes, Laing’s, which sponsored the two longest drive prizes, and A&M Skip hire, which sponsored the on-course refreshments.
Bancon also thanked all those who very generously donated an auction and raffle prize, and the whole team at Newmachar Golf Club for hosting and providing the best of service throughout the whole event.
The golf event raised a fantastic £7,4000, which has been increased to a total of £10,000 with a £2,4000 donation from the Leys Group Charity Committee.
Press & Journal editor Craig Walker thanked Bancon for its commitment to the charity partners.
He said: “The Bancon Group’s generosity is going to help make a huge difference to communities across the north and north-east.
“Their golf day is exactly what The P&J 275 Community Fund is all about – bringing together local businesses which serve our communities to help good causes in the north and north-east. A huge thanks and congratulations to all who took part.”
These funds will benefit five charity partners making a difference in communities across the north and north-east. The worthy causes the fund is supporting this year are Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, Friends of Anchor, Save Bon Accord Baths, SurfABLE Scotland and Munlochy Animal Aid.
Kevin McColgan, CEO Bancon Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of our inaugural charity golf day held at Newmachar golf club. The sun came out for us, and the rain stayed off, which given the last few weeks’ weather was nothing short of a miracle!
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our 84 fantastic players and of course the support of our sponsors. We are over the moon to have raised £10,000 for the P&J Community Fund charities.”
The date will soon be set for the 2025 event.
