Bancon obtains planning approval for 200 homes at Maidencraig South
Housebuilder Bancon Homes has obtained planning approval for the next phase of homes to be built at Maidencraig South.
About this development:
- Authority:Aberdeen City
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:Bancon Group (developer)
Under permission granted by Aberdeen City Council, the company will deliver 208 homes at its site, which is opposite Dobbies at the western edge of Aberdeen.
The development is the latest phase of a larger masterplan and will consist of a mix of housing types which include 172 private homes ranging from two to four-bedroom apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, in addition to 36 affordable homes.
Bancon Homes already has 40 homes under construction on the north side of the Lang Stracht at its highly sought after Roses at Eden development.
As part of the company’s planning obligations, the company will contribute approximately £1 million to the Aberdeen economy, in addition to the provision of affordable housing. This will help to fund community, healthcare and school facilities in the area as well as improve roads and upgrade the core path network.
Bancon Homes managing director Allan Clow said: “We are delighted that Aberdeen City Council has approved our planning application for Maidencraig South.
“In these challenging times, this will not only allow us to build beautiful homes for our customers but also make a significant commitment and investment in the local Aberdeen economy whilst providing additional security for our employees and opportunities for our supply chain.
“We also welcome the temporary changes to the land and buildings transaction tax introduced by the Scottish Government. Whilst we continue to see a good level of buying interest, we hope that this will provide a further boost to homebuyers and give them further confidence to make their next purchase.”
The news follows the announcement in April that the company hopes to expand outside the North East of Scotland for the first time, with a new development in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire.
