- Team:Holmes Miller (architect)
The proposed facility will be the new home to the PE Department at Trinity Academy, replacing out-dated facilities at its current site and taking advantage of the Hockey & Rugby pitches at Bangholm.
Located adjacent to the current Trinity Academy site, this new facility will create a new Trinity Campus with this proposed sports pavilion being the first phase in a proposed redevelopment of the Academy’s estate. The proposal includes a four-court sports hall, gym hall, dance studio & fitness suite, as well as the required support accommodation of changing rooms and classrooms.
Holmes Miller said: “This new sports pavilion will also be used by the wider community and accommodate community learning spaces as well as a community café. Existing user groups such as the local hockey & rugby clubs will make this their new home with additional groups such as an All-Ability Bike group using the facility.
“Outside school hours the public will be able to take advantage of the new facilities providing the local area with a purpose-built sports centre.
“We are very pleased to see this project achieve this important milestone. Bangholm Sports & Outdoor Centre will not only improve the provision of facilities for Trinity Academy but also for the wider community.”
