Barratt Developments helps to give nature a home community nestbox donations
Barratt Developments Scotland has donated handmade bird nestboxes to the local community, in celebration of National Nestbox Week.
Nestboxes crafted by site teams at the housebuilder’s Countesswells development were gifted to Countesswells Primary School, Kingswells Care Home and Camphill School, while one box was given to a Barratt Homes resident. These carefully constructed homes for small birds aim to provide sanctuary for nesting and nurturing, helping the local bird population to flourish.
This initiative marked National Nestbox Week (14-21 February), a campaign aimed at encouraging the creation and installation of nestboxes to support declining bird populations.
The boxes were given to organisations throughout the local area to provide a safe haven for nesting birds, while encouraging the community to spend more time outdoors, learn about and connect with nature.
David Palmer, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, said: “Putting up nestboxes in your garden is a fun and easy DIY project which may seem small but has a big impact in helping the nature on our doorsteps. We hope these boxes will provide a safe haven for small birds to help the population to thrive, and that the community will enjoy watching the arrival of their new feathered inhabitants.
“At Barratt, we recognise the importance of nurturing and preserving wildlife in the communities where we operate, and I’d like to thank the workers at our Countesswells development for taking the time to carefully craft these nestboxes.”
