Barratt East Scotland announces record year of sales
Barratt Developments in the east of Scotland has announced a record year of sales success in the region for the year 2015/16.
The local housebuilder, which includes both the Barratt and David Wilson Homes brands, has sold 750 new homes during the past financial year, worth almost £172m. The record sales have delivered an increase in revenue of more than 16% compared to the same twelve month period in 2014-2015.
The figures underline the continued demand for quality new homes in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Barratt’s sales during the financial year were achieved across several key developments including Barratt @ The Gyle and Duddingston Gardens, both in Edinburgh. One of the housebuilder’s most successful developments has been The Kilns at Burdiehouse on the south east of the city with 52 of its homes sold over the course of the year.
Help to Buy (Scotland) has remained an important factor in the house builder’s success, taken up by buyers in 19% of all sales. Other incentives including Part Exchange Xtra and Movemaker have also helped to drive the success of Barratt’s sales figures in the East.
Alison Condie, managing director for Barratt East Scotland, said: “During a period of economic uncertainty caused by the elections and the Brexit vote, we’ve been really pleased by the sustained sales across our developments in and around Edinburgh. Whilst Help to Buy undoubtedly continues to provide a huge stimulus to the housing market in Scotland, buyers have been attracted by our range of house types and developments available. Our success is down to the quality of the homes that we offer, the great locations in which we’re selling, and the first class service which we deliver to our customers.
“We expect that the market will continue to remain buoyant over the course of the year and we’ll continue focusing on selling the right types of homes in the right locations, ensuring that the buying process is made as easy as possible for our customers.”
The housebuilder is on course to open seven new sites in the east of Scotland during 2016. Recently launched developments include Dovecot Mill in Haddington and both Westerwood Gardens and Liberton Grange in Edinburgh. Several new sites are set to launch in the coming months.
