Barratt Homes raises over £378,000 for charities across Scotland
Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Oregon Timber Frame Ltd are celebrating a year of giving after donating more than £378,000 to good causes across Scotland.
Each year, the housebuilder supports a wide range of organisations promoting health, employability and care among many other causes. This is done through various charity initiatives, including its Community Fund which donates £1,500 to a deserving local cause in each of its Scottish divisions every month.
Over the last 12 months, the housebuilder has provided financial support to a diverse mix of charities – from those which support vulnerable children to thrive, to those providing lifeline palliative care services.
In light of the continued cost-of-living crisis, the homebuilder has donated a large sum to charities supporting young people and families across the regions. These include Launch Foods, which helps tackle child food poverty in Glasgow, Families First, who offer essential services to St Andrew’s families in need of support, and Aberdeen Foyer, an organisation helping to prevent poverty and youth homelessness in Aberdeenshire.
Meanwhile, the housebuilder also supported organisations which focus on helping people feel good and changing the trajectory of their lives – including Polar Academy, who work with vulnerable young people to transform them into resilient role models, and Cash for Kids, which helps improve the lives of disadvantaged children with additional needs.
Other charities which benefitted from support included Nurture the Borders, Endo South of Scotland, The Archie Foundation, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, Breast Cancer Now, as well as various food banks and many more.
Douglas McLeod, regional managing director for Scotland, said: “As the nation’s leading housebuilder, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond building homes; it includes making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
“I’m incredibly proud of the fantastic amount raised by our teams this year, all of which has been donated to a diverse range of worthwhile causes, helping to address critical needs across Scotland. We are committed to continuing this important work in the coming year, and I’d like to thank everyone within the organisation for their amazing fundraising efforts.”
