Betts Associates announces restructure as firm plans for growth

Mel Frimston, chairman of Betts Association, with managing director Robert Ankers

Betts Associates, a Deeside based civil and structural engineering consultancy, has appointed an experienced North West business entrepreneur as non-executive director and has worked with the directors in restructuring its management team as the business looks to strengthen services and strive for growth in the year ahead.

Alwin Thompson has over 25 years of executive management experience across a wide range of business sectors. He has supported a number of companies as they focus on reinforcement of existing services and growth.

One of the first initiatives overseen by Alwin has been to recommend a restructure of the board. This has seen founder, Mel Frimston take on the new role of chairman. Mel will lead the team with a focus on strategic matters and ensuring that high governance standards are met.

Director Robert Ankers, who has been with the business for 22 years and an active member of the board for 19 years, has been promoted to managing director. Robert will be responsible for the management and success of the business across all areas of work.

Mel expressed enthusiasm about the updates, stating, “I’m incredibly proud of our 29-year history and excited for what lies ahead. These changes will serve as a catalyst to strengthen our services for existing clients while driving growth across various sectors. We’re building on our success so far and taking the next steps in Betts’ journey. It’s been a pleasure to work with Alwin who was appointed for his wealth of experience and track record as well as our shared values on team engagement and client satisfaction.”

Betts Associates’ portfolio spans structural, civil, geo-environmental, and hydro engineering, serving clients across major residential developments, industrial projects, commercial ventures, and leisure facilities.
