Bidders welcomed for A737 realignment project
Transport Scotland has published a contract notice inviting bids from construction companies for an upgrade to the A737.
The A737 Den Realignment project involves upgrades to approximately one km of the existing A737 between Beith and Dalry, including new junctions.
The notice, submitted for publication in the Public Contract Scotland (PCS), follows the £31.2 million A737 Dalry Bypass contract being awarded to Farrans Roadbridge Joint Venture last week.
Minister for transport and islands, Humza Yousaf, said: “I welcome the publication of the contract notice for The Den, which follows on from the £31.2m contract awarded last week to construct the A737 Dalry Bypass.
“This highlights the significant progress we are making towards improving the A737 for the North Ayrshire communities. The investment in improving the A737 will deliver upon completion, a number of benefits for the local North Ayrshire communities as well as road users travelling longer distances.”
The construction of both A737 projects will mostly take place away from the existing road.
The construction value of the A737 Den Realignment contract is approximately £5m.
Interested parties will be shortlisted in the summer and contract award expected in Spring 2018.
