Specialist building and project consultancy Brawdia has announced the opening of its first Scottish office in Edinburgh.

Iain Pepler has joined as a director to head up the new office on Semple Street and will take the lead on building its Scottish operations.

A Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience, he has undertaken the full range of project and professional building surveying instructions throughout Scotland, including dilapidations, project monitoring, contract administration, defect analysis and reinstatement cost assessments.

Having previously worked with the likes of Gerald Eve LLP, Watts Group Limited, Capita and Atkins, he is well-known in the Scottish market and has a track record of building and leading teams.

Since its launch in 2021, Brawdia has built a 17-strong team of specialist surveyors working across insurance, commercial and local authority clients. The consultancy has developed specialist services across building surveying and project management, with growth areas including resilience and sustainability, and reinstatement cost assessments.

Brawdia has also opened a new office in Birmingham and made three senior appointments across its Birmingham and north of England teams.

Philip Barmby, managing director of Brawdia: “This is an exciting time for Brawdia as we continue to expand our regional network and I’m delighted that we can now offer our clients full coverage across the British Isles.

“Scotland is a new market for us, and we’re delighted to have Iain in board to lead our expansion north of the border. Iain’s a well-respected figure in the Scottish market, and Leanne, Martin and Richard all bring a wealth of expertise to the team.”

He added: “We’re seeing continued demand from our clients for specialist surveying and project management expertise across our core sectors of insurance, commercial and public sector.

“Whether it be major commercial and office refurbishment schemes, conducting portfolio reinstatement cost assessments, advising on remediation works to HNW properties, or supporting housing providers in the management of major building works, we have a team of experts across the UK able to support our clients.”
