Glasgow’s 1 West Regent Street reaches external completion

The finishing touches are being made to Glasgow’s latest office development, 1 West regent Street.

The 143,000 sq/ft scheme on the junction of Bath Street and West Regent Street has been designed by Ryder Architecture and Sir Robert McAlpine on behalf of Clearbell and M&G Real Estate.



It stands eleven storeys and incorporates ground floor retail as well as 40 basement parking spaces.

Confirmed occupants thus far include Weir Group, Arup and media firm Global, alongside an outlet of café chain Giraffe.

 

Buyers race to snap up new Athletes’ Village homes



The Commonwealth Games’ Athletes’ Village, which housed the stars who took part in the event, will open to the public this weekend for the first time.

Until now, the award winning development has been open only to those who have reserved homes.

But this weekend The Village show homes and sales centre will open to the general public as more than 100 properties go on sale.

Trump set to transform lighthouse

A lighthouse in Ayrshire is to be turned into the “greatest half-way house in the world” by American business tycoon Donald Trump after his plans were approved.

The Trump Organisation submitted plans to convert the lighthouse on Turnberry, South Ayrshire, which have now been backed by planners.

According to Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, the development will transform the site into a “masterpiece”.

 

Multi-million pounds North-east abattoir confirmed

A new multi-million pounds state-of-the-art abattoir and meat processing plant is to be built in the North-east by Scotbeef Inverurie.

The development at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie, was confirmed by Patrick Machray, chief executive of farmers’ co-op, ANM Group Ltd, at the group’s annual meeting.

He made the announcement on behalf of the majority shareholders in the meat company, J W Galloway Ltd of Bridge of Allan, who have a 75 per cent holding in Scotbeef Inverurie along with ANM Group’s 25 per cent.

 

Contractor Macloch secures £1.25m of work

Fledgling Grangemouth construction group Macloch Contracts, launched ten months ago, has picked up £1.25 million in contracts after securing £50,000 in funding from Falkirk Council.

Director Mark Copeland said the firm had also launched its first satellite office in Glasgow.

A75 resurfacing works

Road users are set to benefit from an additional £319k of resurfacing works on the Dumfries Bypass at the A75 Lockerbie Road Roundabout to the Driving Range which will improve the road surface for those using the route.

The works will see Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland carry out the resurfacing work from Friday 24 to Wednesday 29 April 2015.
