Building Briefs – August 17th
Perth & Kinross Council has celebrated the completion of its latest development of new-build homes.
The 20 one and two bedroomed flats at Birch Avenue in Scone have been built to the highest standard. All the windows are triple-glazed and the properties are extremely well insulated to help reduce tenants’ heating bills, along with the carbon footprint of the development.
The homes, delivered by CCG, were visited by housing and communities convener Councillor Peter Barrett, vice convener Councillor Bob Brawn, local elected members and senior housing & environment managers.
CCG is presently delivering a further 24 homes for the council at Crieff Road, Perth.
Funds for Black Isle junction improvement approved
£0.250m funds for improvement works to the Crask Junction on the Black Isle have been approved by Members of The Highland Council’s Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee.
The funds have been allocated from the Council’s Capital Programme for 2018 – 23 for Crask Junction which is located on the B9169 Muir of Ord – Leanaig - Culbokie - Shorton Road.
The junction follows a blind summit, with high traffic speeds on the main road. The Council’s Roads Operation Team has identified the junction as a high safety risk and their highest priority.
Following significant community involvement and consultation, the design is complete and planning approval obtained. Land negotiations are very well advanced and the estimated cost of the scheme is £0.250m.
Consultation on proposed Prestonpans school
Locals are being called to voice their opinions on the proposed primary school and nursery development in Prestonpans, Edinburgh, during the consultation period starting next week, 20 August.
The proposal intends to close the existing Prestonpans Infants and Prestonpans Primary schools and establish a new primary school.
The new school would operate from the existing school buildings on West Loan and Preston Road, under a single management team.
The consultation period will run for 6 weeks until 02 October.
Elected members of the City of Edinburgh Council will decide whether to adopt the proposal, withdraw it, or consult on another proposal. The decision will also be subject to approval by Scottish Ministers who reserve the right to ‘call-in’ the proposal for further consideration. Education Scotland will also report independently on the proposal.
