Hillcrest unveils Dundee flats plan

A new development of 16 flats for affordable rent is being planned by Hillcrest Housing Association in Dundee.

Designed by KDM Architects, the project will see eight two-bedroom flats and eight supported accommodation flats, also with two bedrooms.

If approved, the new development would be located on the site of a former workshop and yard on South Side, Langland’s Street.

The development is part of Hillcrest’s pledge to build 1750 new homes across Scotland by 2021.

Flats proposals for Aberdeen city centre restaurant

A planning application has been submitted to convert an Aberdeen restaurant and adjoining building into new flats.

Fitzgerald Associates Ltd has lodged the application to Aberdeen City Council on behalf of J & S Halpern for the Ambal’s Indian Restaurant, to turn the first, second and third floors of the Bridge Street property and the current residential flat building next to it to form 12 flats, and to make alterations to the windows.

The council is expected to make a decision on the application by September 24.

New homes planned to transform Glasgow brownfield site

Convery Prenty Architects has revealed plans to build seven flats with nine parking spaces across from the Levern Bridge at Nitshill Road in Glasgow.

The land is currently used as a storage yard for timber and is occupied by a tree surgery business. But the new proposals could see the brownfield site transformed, with two open spaces being created for the community.

Originally the plan had been to build eight homes but that was reduced after an agreement was reached with planners on how best to maintain the existing landscape corridor along Nitshill Road.

Consultation opens for South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan 2

Communities in South Lanarkshire have been given the chance to comment on the council’s vision for the continued growth and regeneration of the area.

Following committee approval in May, the proposed plan is the latest stage in the replacement of the existing South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan which has formed the policy basis of South Lanarkshire Council’s decision-making process on planning applications since it was adopted in June 2015.

Proposed new development sites and local nature reserves have been mapped.

And following on from guidelines in the current Local Plan, consideration continues to be given to the land use issues arising from the impact of climate change by seeking to ensure developments are sustainably located; maximise the use of vacant and derelict land; utilise renewable energy resources and are as carbon neutral as possible whilst avoiding areas of flood risk.

The proposed South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan 2 is available to view and make comment on for a period of eight weeks.

Following consultation, a series of reports will be prepared and submitted to the Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA) with a view to a public inquiry being held early in 2019. Only unresolved representations will be submitted to the DPEA.
