Scottish roofing and cladding contractor Curtis Moore has been named TeamKal Contractor of the Year 2017.
The award was given at the TeamKal Conference in Chester on June 8, where Curtis Moore also picked up two other awards - Best Refurbishment Project in Kalzip with its Odeon Cinema Glasgow Quay project, and Highly Commended for its Brodick Ferry Terminal project.
The TeamKal Contractor of the Year shortlist is decided by reviewing each contractor on the ways in which they have worked with TeamKal on project opportunities, how they collaborated and what they achieved collectively. The assessment also focused on how both the TeamKal and Kalzip brands were represented throughout the project.
Government provides £3.6m boost for Borders economy
A business incubator centre in Hawick will help Borders businesses establish themselves and grow, thanks to a £3.6 million funding package.

The Scottish Government is working with Scottish Borders Council, local businesses and community groups to further develop the local economy, building upon the Hawick Action Plan.
The support is part of a £10m local economic development capital grant fund, which is also supporting businesses in North Ayrshire, Clackmannanshire and Fife.
Randolph House revamp complete
Architects ISA has announced the completion of its refurbishment of Randolph House in Edinburgh.
The comprehensive refurbishment of this 1970’s office building included replacing the existing windows, overcladding the existing facade, entire internal strip out and extending the ground floor to create space for a restaurant.
The first tenants are now in the process of moving in to the building.
Dumfries and Galloway Council to discuss £1.4m land asset class capital programme investment
Dumfries and Galloway Council is set to agree investment spending of up to £1.4 million for this year’s Land Asset Class Capital Programme.
The local authority will meet later this year to discuss spending in the area.

Bellway site manager is the king of his manor
Bellway site manager George Carty has won a top building industry award for his work at Manor Park in Cumbernauld.
George is set to receive his third NHBC Health and Safety Award on July 7 at a gala lunch hosted by Jon Culshaw.
No stranger to awards, this latest accolade is especially important to George as the site was only launched in October last year.
The Health and Safety Award is awarded in recognition of a number of site issues including the protection of tools, appropriate signage and documentation including risk assessments as well as general safety issues on such clear walkways and protective clothing for staff and visitors.

Bam Nuttall starts work on new West Lothian footbridge
Bam Nuttall has started building a new pedestrian footbridge in West Lothian.
The contractor is developing the structure at Addiewell station and the project will take six months to complete.
The new bridge will be built next to the existing structure, which will be removed once works are completed. Although lifts are not being installed as part of this programme, the bridge design will make provision for this to happen in the future.
The scheme forms part of wider work on the Shotts line being delivered by Network Rail ahead of the electrification of the route by 2019.
Zero Waste Scotland appoints industry expert to lead £18m circular economy fund
Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s circular economy expert, has appointed Simon Weston, director for Raw Materials at the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI), to chair its flagship Circular Economy Investment Fund.
The £18 million fund offers grant funding for Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and organisations based in Scotland, and seeks to support work that will help deliver circular economy growth in line with the Scottish Government’s circular economy strategy Making Things Last.
It invites proposals from SME and social enterprise organisations interested in exploring new markets for circular economy products and services, developing and adopting innovative business models or developing innovative technologies to support a circular economy. It is supported by funds from the Scottish Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The fund has already run a dedicated call for innovative bi-economy projects and will shortly launch a call to the Scottish manufacturing sector, in addition to running a general fund.
