Deadline nears for Strathclyde campus development site
Bidders have only two weeks to submit offers for the Jordanhill campus in Glasgow after the University of Strathclyde put the site up for sale.
The entire west end campus is to become a 31-acre residential development, which can accommodate up to 364 homes, including up to 71 apartments.
A closing date of Wednesday May 27 has been set for the site.
The campus – located in the city’s West End – is being brought to the market by JLL on behalf of the University of Strathclyde.
Premier Inn extension to begin
Marshall Construction is to begin developing an extension for a Premier Inn in Glasgow.
Development work is expected to start on 11 May.
The 14 bed extension at Cambuslang is the second extension to the hotel and will bring the number of bedrooms to 72.
Work is expected to last approximately 24 weeks.
The extension contract was awarded to Marshall Construction in April.
Scottish Borders free networking and information event
Scottish Borders Council has invited the local construction and skilled trades sector to a free networking and information event.
The exhibition provides a chance to learn more about how to start or develop a business within the local public sector.
Representatives of Business Gateway and the council’s Economic Development team will be in attendance.
The event will be held on 20 May in Springwood Park between 6pm-8pm.
Public invited to view Perth transport designs
Perth and Kinross Council has invited the public to view designs for improvements to the A9/A85 junction and link road to Bertha Park.
The exhibitions will also gather feedback for a new boundary at Perth Crematorium.
The public will also be updated on the Perth Transport Futures Project.
The scheme involves measures to improve the transport network around the city to unlock land for development, help relieve congestion and reduce associated air pollution.
Phase 1 of the project will include a new junction on the A9, a second access to Inveralmond Industrial Estate, a new foot/cycle bridge over the A9 and a new link road to development land in the west of the city.
The scheme is currently on schedule to begin in early 2016.

Local council backs Crieff Aldi plans
A proposed supermarket would create 30 jobs in Crieff has been given the backing of Crieff Community Council
The planned 1,254 square metre store by Aldi, which would be moved next to a new primary school in Broich Road, will also include the provision of a second retail unit as part of a comprehensive development of the site.
Although no retail names have been revealed yet, the chain is confident of a further announcement should its plans be approved by Perth and Kinross Council.
Combined car parking for both stores will allow for 167 spaces.
Aberdeenshire Council announces public transport funding for five towns
Aberdeenshire Council has announced five towns are to benefit from funding to improve walking, cycling and access to public transport.
The council secured funding from Sustrans and Paths for All.
Fraserburgh, Portlethen, Ellon, Huntly and Inverurie are part of the proposed development Integrated Travel Towns (ITT).
The ITT project will focus on long distance routes and links within the towns along with a marketing and promotion campaign.
The approach follows the success of Peterhead as a Cycling Demonstration Town, which involved schemes such as LED-lit paths and the development of new cycle routes.
West Lothian library to close for maintenance
A library is to be closed in West Lothian due to scheduled maintenance work.
The Linlithgow Customer Information (CIS) and Library is to undergo work beginning on 11 May and lasting one week.
Works include a carpet deep clean and new flooring along with painting and plastering work.
The building will re-open on 18 May.
