  • Global brands move to Clyde Gateway East

DHL Express and Torishima Service Solutions Europe Ltd (TSSE) have announced that they are setting up home at Clyde Gateway East Business Park in Glasgow.

The move of the two global brands will bring 145 jobs to the area.



TSSE is the European arm of the Osaka-headquartered Torishima Pump Manufacturing Company, a leading global provider of pumping system installations and aftermarket support services.

TSSE has taken the 2,550 sq m (27,448 sq ft) Unit 201, developed speculatively by Clyde Gateway Developments Limited, on a 15-year lease as its new European headquarters, bringing 50 highly skilled engineering jobs to the area.

Meanwhile, global logistics company DHL Express, has agreed a pre-let for a new Service Centre facility that will be built on Plot 4 at Clyde Gateway East Business Park. The move will see the relocation of their current team, bringing a further 95 jobs to Clyde Gateway.

The 1.94 Hectare (4.79 acres) Plot 4 site has been acquired from Clyde Gateway by Harris Finance, who will develop out the new bespoke distribution and office facility on behalf of DHL Express.



Harris Finance is headquartered in Clyde Gateway and to date has successfully developed and let over 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) of business space within the local area.

The DHL Express Service Centre will offer international delivery and collection services for customers in the region, with local businesses and residents also benefitting from a parcel drop-off and pick-up point. DHL Express plans to move into their new facility by summer 2020, with the move allowing for continued growth to support its customers in the region.

Clyde Gateway East, located adjacent to junction 2A of the M74 motorway, is regarded by property agents as one of the prime industrial locations across central Scotland.

To date, the park has delivered some 10,725 sq m (115,448 sq ft) of development for occupiers including BT, Dentec Scotland, Cusack, Glacier Energy Services Holdings, Greencore Food to Go and now TSSE. Speculative developments currently under construction by Aberdeen Standard Investments will provide a further three units bringing the development total at Clyde Gateway East to 18,117 sq m (195,011 sq ft).

  • Clark Contracts attends ‘Hidden Gems’ supported business event

 Clark Contracts attended the ‘Hidden Gems’ Scotland’s supported business event in Glasgow this week.



The event organised by hub West Scotland and hub South West Scotland in Glasgow allowed the main contractor to engage with supported businesses operating in the construction sector. The afternoon comprised of presentations and trade exhibitions from the supported businesses and speed networking.

There are a number of supported businesses across Scotland, providing support and employment to integrate local disabled and disadvantaged people both socially and professionally. Some of the supported businesses in attendance were Royal Strathclyde Blind Industries, North Lanarkshire Industries, Dovetail, Scotland’s Bravest, Spruce Carpets, Glasgow Wood Recycling, YES Works, Haven Products and All Cleaned Up.

Clark Contracts, a primary contractor on hub West Scotland’s supply chain, is committed to helping to deliver inclusive growth and engaging with both supported businesses and social enterprises on their contracts and have recently worked with Spruce Carpets, CCI Scotland and Haven Recycle.

 

  • New 3G pitch for Bo’ness

Representatives from Falkirk Council, SportScotland and Newton Park Association gathered at Newtown Park, Bo’ness to celebrate the completion of a project to replace the old surface with a new 3G synthetic pitch.

The upgrade to the football pitch at Newton Park was procured and managed by hub East Central Scotland for Falkirk Council, acting on behalf of Newton Park Association. It also includes new goals, floodlights, dugouts and visitor changing facilities.

The new surface meets SportScotland and Scottish Football Association standards and the project was part-funded by SportScotland through its Sports Facilities Fund.

 

  • Two options on display for Aviemore to Carrbridge active travel route

Public exhibitions are being held today and tomorrow on the ongoing Aviemore to Carrbridge non-motorised user (NMU) route study.

Members of the public will be able to see and comment on the two corridor options that have been developed for the active travel route linking these two communities.

The scope of the route study was agreed with Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA), the Highland Council (THC), Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS) and Sustrans earlier this year and the public exhibitions being held today and tomorrow mark an important milestone in the NMU route study.

The next stage of the route study will be an options appraisal which will assess the two corridors in more detail and will be informed by additional consultation with key stakeholders.

The outcome of the options appraisal will be the identification of the preferred route option. This will determine the preferred route within the corridor, the associated engineering and environmental impacts, the cost and land requirements.

 

  • Inverness link road plans revealed in public display

Plans for a new single carriageway in the Highland capital go on public display today.

Following the publication of draft Orders for the two mile long A9/A96 Inshes to Smithton scheme earlier this month, local communities and road users will get a chance to see the plans at public exhibitions in Inverness today and tomorrow.

  • Miller Homes hosts exclusive brunch with BBC Masterchef finalist Jilly McCord

Miller Homes has teamed up with 2019 BBC MasterChef finalist, Jilly McCord, to host an exclusive event at its Bothwellbank development in Bothwell.

Taking place on Saturday 5 October, Jilly will serve up brunch canapés, as well as giving her top tips for creating the perfect kitchen space. 

The event will be held in the Abercromby showhome at Miller Homes’ Bothwell development.   

On the day, Jilly will create a selection of delicious canapés to sample including bite-size breakfast frittata, and avocado, halloumi and siracha toasts. She’ll also be dishing out her top tips on how to style the kitchen in your new home, along with dinner party recipe ideas and inspiration. 

 

  • Hawick Flood Protection Scheme hosts information events on key roadworks

The Hawick Flood Protection Scheme will host a series of information evenings next month on works set to take place in various locations in the town.

Two sessions will take place next Thursday 3 October to discuss works at Burnfoot Road and Mansfield Road, providing an update of the proposed works, with an opportunity to provide feedback.

There will be a further Traffic Management Working Group meeting on Thursday 10 October to discuss the plans at Commercial Road and the impact on the High Street and Princess Street.
