Suitable for all primary school children, the high vis vests will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vests can be collected from the marketing suite at the following locations from Thursday to Monday, 10:30-5:30pm.

- CALA launches showhome at Cammo Meadows
A new show apartment has launched at a thriving development that will link into Edinburgh’s famed Cammo Estate wilderness park.

The two-bedroom show apartment joins the two five-bedroom showhomes at Cammo Meadows by CALA Homes (East) located within the desirable Cammo suburb, near to Cramond and Barnton.
Showcasing high-spec interiors throughout, the ground floor apartment features open-plan living with the practicalities of built-in storage - and follows on from the success of the two detached showhomes, which have contributed to the development securing high levels of demand.

Eileen Kesson, founder of Envision, was again tasked to inspire with her interior design - and has opted to celebrate the “colour of the season” ochre gold, paired with clean whites, to create a clean and vibrant palette throughout the home.
- Plans for Perth mosque and community centre approved
Perth Islamic Society’s new mosque and community centre on Jeanfield Road has been given the green light by council planning officers.
A similar plan was approved some years ago but permission lapsed and the latest, more detailed plans, were submitted at the end of last year.
According to the latest proposals, the centre’s design will reflect the group’s Scottish and Islamic roots.
A planning statement from Perth Islamic Society says the mosque will be a major boost to Perth Muslims as well as any community groups looking for a space to use.
- Opening date announced for Provost Skene’s House
A new visitor attraction celebrating the pioneering people of Aberdeen and the North-East will open to the public on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Dating from 1545, Provost Skene’s House is the oldest surviving town house in Aberdeen. It has been added to and altered many times during its life and since 2019, the house has undergone major refurbishment as part of Aberdeen City Council’s 25-year City Centre Masterplan. The new attraction will be managed and operated by the city’s Archives, Gallery and Museums service.
Inside Provost Skene’s House, new interactive displays celebrate some of the remarkable people from Aberdeen and the North-East who have not only shaped the city, but have also helped transform the world. These include innovators, scientists, live savers, writers, sporting champions and stars of stage and screen. Everyone featured was born, has lived or worked in Aberdeen or the North-East.
They range from Nobel laureate Lord Boyd Ord (who helped establish the city’s world-renowned Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health) to operatic soprano Mary Garden (one of entertainment’s first superstars) to football legend Denis Law.
The renovation of Provost Skene’s House has been carried out by Aberdeen City Council’s building services team and included repairs to the fabric of the building and the roof, as well as installation of new mechanical and electrical systems for the digital interactive displays. Works began in July 2019, halted in late March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and restarted at the end of June 2020.
- Views south on proposed A701 Relief Road
Midlothian Council is inviting local people to give their views and attend a webinar on the proposed A701 Relief Road and A702 Link Road at Straiton.
The consultation runs from Tuesday 5 October 2021 until 5pm on Tuesday 26 October 2021. The webinar is on Tuesday 5 October from 6pm-8pm.
Cabinet member with responsibility for economic development, Councillor Russell Imrie, said: “The proposals would support planned development in the A701 corridor; ease congestion and critically, support the City Deal growth project at Easter Bush Estate, promoted by the University of Edinburgh.
“In tandem, the bypassed section of the A701 will be developed as a sustainable transport corridor, with more walking, cycling and public transport space while keeping local access.”
Cllr Imrie said the project is now at a stage where enough technical work has been done to be able to usefully explain the current options with a view to selecting a preferred route.
He added: “We are looking for the public’s views on those. The feedback will be useful for the project team and would form part of the Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) route selection process. That preferred route would be the subject of a future planning application.”
Any feedback to the project team as part of the consultation will not be considered as formal representations to Midlothian Council’s Planning Service and will therefore, not be included in the planning application. Instead, residents will have a separate opportunity to formally comment on the planning application once submitted.
Visit the website to read more about the proposals and make comments by visiting the consultation website.
- Broughty Ferry to Monifieth active travel progress
Work on an unbroken off-road route between Dundee and Monifieth continues to gather pace with completion of the latest phase.
The newly finished strategic link from Balmossie Street provides a fully surfaced and lit path connecting with the similarly equipped stretch at the Seven Arches to Monifieth High School.
The newly completed part of the route will particularly support residents from the large population to the north east Broughty Ferry, Barnhill, Panmurefield and the north end of Monifieth.
It provides access south to the National Cycle Network Route1 coastal route improvements and Balmossie Railway Station via Balmossie Street and the Balmossie foot bridge.
Work was carried out by T&N Gilmartin at a total cost of £168,860 and was completed in less than two months.
