St PatricksDemolition starts at Inverclyde primary school site

Contractors at St Patrick’s Primary School, the latest Inverclyde school to get the renovation treatment, have started the demolition of the existing building.

Inverclyde Council’s £7 million plan will deliver a new building for St Patrick’s Primary in Greenock.

The new state-of-the-art building for St Patrick’s Primary, which reached financial close last month, will be on the original Broomhill Street site following the demolition of the old school.



The school is being delivered by hub West Scotland in conjunction with main contractor Lend Lease and architect Holmes Miller.

 

A77 South Maybole resurfacing

Scotland TranServ is to carry out resurfacing to the A77 through Maybole, following up on a programme of works carried out last year.



A quality review of the road has been undertaken which has identified the need for additional resurfacing and lining to ensure local communities continue to have a road fit for purpose.

The repairs will see approximately 700m of the carriageway resurfaced, delivering long-term benefits to drivers along the A77 at Maybole.

A full road closure will be implemented on Sunday 13 and Sunday 20 September from 8.00am to 8.00pm.

 



Dundee City Council to discuss roof renewal proposal

Nearly £900,000 could be invested in the renewal of roofs on council houses in Dundee.

The local authority’s housing committee will be asked to approve the tenders at its meeting on September 14.

The work, which is part of an ongoing programme, would cover two phases:



Phase one including the renewal of roofs to 29 cottages and 3 tenement blocks at 2-18 Glenconner Drive, 28-83 Mossgiel Crescent, 23 Mossgiel Place and 88-112 Pitkerro Road, at a total cost of £362,490.75.

Phase two including the renewal of roofs to 44 cottages and 3 tenement blocks at 3-19 Alloway Terrace, 2-41 Mossgiel Crescent, 3-17 Pitkerro drive and 64-78 Pitkerro Road, at a total cost of £506,160.54.

 

M80 resurfacing works and high friction renewal



Road users are set to benefit from £110k of improvement works to the southbound section of the M80 between junction 2 (Bishopbriggs) and junction 1 (Provan).

Scotland TranServ will carry out resurfacing and high friction renewal from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September to increase the longevity of the road and ensure a quieter running surface.

A total overnight closure of the southbound Carriageway will be implemented between junction 2 and junction 1. A closure of the southbound onslip from junction 2 between the hours of 8.00pm and 6.00am will also be in operation.

 



Ravenscraig climbing facility upgrade

Ravenscraig Sports Centre is to close from September 30th for a refurbishment.

The centre is expected to re-open in early 2016 with a range of new facilities in place.

The upgraded Ravenscraig Sports Centre, which will be renamed Ravenscraig Activity Centre, will include a new Hang Fast adventure climbing facility; an affordable fitness gym (Fitness For Less); a new soft play area, Costa Coffee restaurant and two party rooms.

The Fitness Gym on the new second floor mezzanine level will consist of over 100 stations of the latest technology equipment and include a functional and spinning area.

The refurbishment project is in partnership with Inverclyde Council and Inverclyde Leisure.

 

A78 Montefode to Chapelhill Roundabouts

Road users are set to benefit from over £348k of essential maintenance works on the A78 trunk road between Montefode and Chapelhill Roundabouts beginning Friday 11 September 2015.

Scotland TranServ, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out the resurfacing work over one weekend when traffic flows are lighter.
