It’s been a busy start to 2015 for the Special Projects Team at law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn, with recent deals totalling a value in excess of £1 billion.

The team recently reached financial close on the £33m Greenfaulds High School in Cumbernauld this month - a design, build, finance and manage (DBFM) project under the Scottish Government’s Hub initiative for delivering major infrastructure projects. This follows on from two other DBFM transactions in December - the £45m Royal Edinburgh Hospital phase 1 in December and the £42.5 million Levenmouth High School.

The hectic festive period comes on the back of the team advising on the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service’s significant new £43m National Centre of Excellence in October 2014, the country’s purpose-built facility aimed to modernise service delivery. Additionally, the team provided advice on Scottish aspects of the £745m Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route /Balmedie to Tipperty NPD Project; and on Viridor’s £175m energy recovery facility in Dunbar - both last month.

The team was also bolstered towards the end of the year with the arrival of Partners Stephen Colliston and Nigel Sievwright from Tods Murray - which Shepherd and Wedderburn acquired in October. As a result of the reinforced team and high activity levels, the practice has reinforced its enviable expertise across the sector with further high levels of confirmed activity in the pipeline.
