Cala hands over 14 affordable homes to Wheatley Homes East in Linlithgow
The first families have been handed the keys to their new homes at a social housing development in Linlithgow.
Cala Homes (East) has handed over 14 new affordable homes at its Queenswood development to the north east of the town to Wheatley Homes East.
Over the last few weeks, tenants have moved into a mix of semi-detached homes, cottage flats designed to complement and match the high quality of the Queenswood development – named small development of the year at the Scottish Housing Awards.
The homes, which are a mix of mid-market and social rent, will offer happy new residents affordable rent in the area and reflect Cala’s consistent values of high-quality, premium living.
Michael McCormack, site manager with Cala Homes (East), said: “To be able to secure planning, complete the construction and fit out of affordable housing in an area where it is massively in demand is very rewarding.
“It’s excellent to see that tenants so far are delighted with the finished product and location and we’re very happy to have been able to be a key part of that. It marks another highly successful partnership between Cala and Wheatley Group.”
Each home benefits from solar panels, access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and is built with the latest materials to reduce energy usage.
The delivery of the new homes comes at a key time for Linlithgow, with demand for affordable housing continuing to surge in the historic West Lothian town.
Frank McCafferty, Wheatley Group director of repairs and assets, said: “We are committed to working with our partners across the sector to increase the supply of much-needed affordable homes.
“There’s a real need for affordable housing in the area and I know our tenants will enjoy living in these modern, spacious, energy-efficient homes.”
Cala, which has sold out the private homes at Queenswood, recently started construction at its nearby Preston Glade development in the town.
