Established to allow the leading developer to contribute to and work closely with the communities in which it builds homes, the bursary initiative will see 52 deserving groups receive funding.

Charities and community groups across Scotland were invited to apply for a share of the bursary across the West, East and North divisions of CALA Homes, with hundreds of organisations getting in touch.

The funds being awarded will be used to pay for vital services and equipment for a wide variety of groups.

In the West of Scotland, 20 recipients across Lanarkshire, Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire will share a pot of £20,000, including Balmuildy Primary PTA in Bishopbriggs, C.O.A.S.T (Carers of Autism Spectrum Together) in Hamilton and The Kindness Project in Glasgow.

Across Edinburgh and the Lothians, the bursary was so successful that the bursary pot was increased to £20,000 with over 130 applicants looking to receive a sum to help build on their success.

The 21 successful recipients include Clark Community Choir in Musselburgh, Bronx Boxing Gym in Tranent, the Dirleton School partnership and Belhaven Community Garden.

In the North of Scotland, 11 applicants will receive a share of a £10,000 fund, including 17th Aberdeen Scout Group, which requested money to purchase new camping equipment, and Seaton Community Church, which will receive a sum to help continue its Make Lunches scheme, providing free lunches for around 50 primary school children during holidays.
