Cala Homes unveils community support programme for Linlithgow
Cala Homes (East) has unveiled a range of community support initiatives for people living in Linlithgow as part of its new Community Pledge programme.
The initiative features a bespoke package of activities designed to address the needs of the area in a meaningful and measurable way.
The Preston Glade Community Pledge, which is the third of its kind in the east of Scotland and follows the announcement of similar Community Pledge projects in South Queensferry and the village of Aberdour in Fife, includes:
- A yearly donation of £1,000 between 2022-24 to the organisers of the Linlithgow Spooky Trail, which allowed every pupil at Linlithgow Primary School to attend last year’s event.
- A donation of £2,000 to Linlithgow Athletic Club to help establish the new Junior parkrun – a free, weekly event that encourages families in the local area, including Cala East team members who have previously taken part, to get more active.
- Continued sponsorship of the Main Stage at the local annual Beecraigs Festive Forest, a popular community event which provides a platform for young musicians and local creatives.
- Supplying pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School with litter picking equipment and high-vis vests, allowing them to continue in their endeavours to make a positive difference to their surroundings while ensuring they stay safe while doing so.
- Land to Life, a new educational initiative designed to bring the housebuilding industry to life for school pupils.
- Stay Safe, Stay Away, which aims to educate young children about the dangers of playing on building sites.
The Pledge also includes Cala’s Showhome of Support initiative, where local businesses are given a platform to promote their wares within the housebuilder’s showhomes at Preston Glade.
Tracey Gill, owner of Tracey Victoria Interiors, a local business which has been spotlighted in the development’s five-bedroom MacRae showhome, said: “We were delighted when we were approached by Cala to be part of their Showhome of Support at Preston Glade.
“It’s a great local initiative and a wonderful way to introduce people moving into the area to Linlithgow’s wide range of local businesses.
“Now more than ever, smaller retailers need the support of the communities they operate in. To be endorsed by a homebuilder like Cala goes such a long way in encouraging people to support
their local high street.”
Philip Hogg, sales and marketing director for Cala Homes (East), said: “We are proud to launch our Preston Glade Community Pledge, which we’re confident will bring real, positive benefit to people living in Linlithgow.
“We are thrilled to be able to engage with community groups, schools and sports clubs through this initiative..
“Collaborating with communities really makes a difference and it’s something we really value. We are excited to provide further updates on the fantastic programme of support we have planned
for Linlithgow.”
Cala’s ambition is that a Community Pledge will be established for every new Cala development over the next two years.
