CCG begins work on health & wellbeing centre at Fettes College

CCG (Scotland) has officially commenced construction on a pioneering new health and wellbeing centre for Fettes College.
Located in Edinburgh, Fettes College is one of Scotland’s leading independent schools. The new facility will be set within the College grounds, providing a new home for the school’s medical team and a centralised hub for medical and pastoral care services, as well as offering a specially designed space to support the physical and mental health wellbeing of students.
The building has been made possible through the generosity of David Allardice, a former student, and will be named the Allardice Centre in his memory.

The Rt Hon Lady Morag Wise, chair of Governors; Helen Harrison, head of Fettes College; Peter Worlledge, bursar; Sue Bruce, head of wellbeing; PSHE Prefects Sasha P, Anoud H, Kyan T and Georges D-B. They were joined by Amanda Forsyth OF (holding the historic trowel) and a friend of David Allardice
Helen Harrison, head of Fettes College, said: “It is exciting to see construction of this ground-breaking new facility begin. The Allardice Centre will be such an important resource within our campus and wouldn’t exist without the very generous legacy from the late David Allardice. We are extremely grateful that he wanted to include Fettes and all our current and future students and staff in his legacy.
“This Centre will stand as a testament to his belief in the importance of the whole person, demonstrating our commitment to nurturing both the physical and mental health of our students, building resilience, and allowing them to thrive academically and personally.”
The Allardice Centre has been designed by project architect Page\Park and will be built by CCG to an advanced energy standard, paving the way for low carbon operations across the campus.

It will feature high levels of insulation and a low-emissions heating system, ensuring sustainability at its core, and a design that will seamlessly integrate functionality with a sense of openness to foster a strong connection with the surrounding natural landscape.
CCG managing director, David Wylie, said: “The school clearly places a great deal of emphasis on their students’ wellbeing in and out of the classroom, and I am thankful to the Leadership Team for choosing CCG to deliver this project and commemorate the Allardice name.

“It sees us once again working in collaboration with Page/Park, having most recently been involved in one of the UK’s most architecturally recognised residential developments in recent years with the 2024 RIBA-winning ‘North Gate’, and we look to working with them and our much valued project team members over the next year.”
Page\Park Architects added: “We are delighted to see the Allardice Centre starting on site. Designed to set new standards for sustainable development in the College grounds, the project is a testament to our work with Fettes to establish a route to net zero carbon operations.”
