CCG hails positive 2014 despite fall in turnover

CCGCCG (Scotland) Ltd is looking positively towards future growth despite a 32 per cent drop in turnover, the firm has said.

Annual accounts filed at Companies House show turnover came in at £87.9 million in the 12 months to March 31 this year, down from £128.9m in the previous financial year. That caused pre-tax profits to drop from £12.7m to £4.2m.

However directors at the company, one of the contractors for the Athletes’ Village at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, said the results “were in line with expectations” and that 2014 was a successful year for the firm.

Bernie Rooney, financial director, CCG (Scotland) Ltd told Scottish Construction Now: “Our financial results for 2014 were in line with expectations and we remain focused on the company’s strategic priorities and investing for growth.”

In 2014, CCG successfully completed the company’s largest ever apprentice intake, taking the total number to 61.

As a result the firm secured a number of apprentice related industry accolades, including Large Employer of the Year (Scotland) at the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Managing Agency Apprenticeship Awards 2014 while becoming only the second construction company to achieve Investors in Young People (IIYP).

Writing in the accounts the directors, Alastair Wylie and Bernard Rooney, said: “The group has performed well in a very difficult year. The fall in turnover and profits was expected from the general economic conditions of the construction sector.

“The group’s order book for construction projects is encouraging and it is expected that the level of turnover will increase in the year to March 31, 2015.”
