CGC opens new Ayrshire office

cgc ayr signConstruction firm CGC has delivered on its promise to quickly open a new base in South Ayrshire.

The company has purchased new premises in Crown Street, Ayr from where it will co-ordinate its significant presence in Ayrshire.

The move comes just weeks after CGC announced a major recruitment drive after winning four contracts from South Ayrshire Council.

It is now recruiting for “all trades” workers including joiners, groundworkers, flat roofers, estimators and project managers for a wide range of roles needed to fulfil the contracts awarded by the local authority. Office staff are also required. It is one of the biggest recruitment drives CGC has ever undertaken.

The contracts won relate to property owned by South Ayrshire Council across the local authority area and include resurfacing work, plumbing, building work and roofing.

Leo Reilly, managing director of CGC, said: “These new premises confirm our commitment to Ayrshire and the fulfilment of a promise to recruit locally.

“The Crown Street headquarters will allow us to have a local base from which we can direct the work we have recently won from South Ayrshire Council.”

Director Ronnie McDowell added: “The recruitment drive is under way and we are looking for many different roles including quantity surveyors, site managers, project managers, contracts managers, groundworkers, an estimator, metalworkers and joiners. A number of apprenticeship roles are also available. We’d like to hear from people who are interested in fulfilling these roles.”

CGC currently employs over 120 staff.
