CHAP Group makes strategic board appointment
CHAP Group has added Derek Shewan to its board as a non-executive director.
A well-known and respected character in the Scottish construction industry, Mr Shewan has spent over 40 years working for tier-one contractors, latterly in the role of CEO.
Hugh Craigie, CHAP Group’s managing director, said: “CHAP has recently embarked upon an ambitious growth plan and strengthening our senior management team is a key step on our development path. As one of the country’s most prominent construction professionals, Derek’s strategic input and experience will prove invaluable as the company continues to grow. Derek joins the company at an exciting time, and we look forward to working with him.
“Global issues continue to cause the construction industry massive challenges, affecting the cost and availability of materials and labour. While we are grateful to see cost volatility beginning to settle down, the impact remains significant, with tender returns higher than 12 months ago. CHAP however strives to mitigate the impact on our clients by offering a proactive and innovative approach, and we are pleased that this has been recognised through multiple new project awards.”
Still based in Aberdeenshire after over 46 years, and very proud of its local heritage and links, CHAP is currently looking to extend its area of operations.
Hugh Craigie added: “We are confident that the investment being made in our senior management team will further strengthen CHAP’s position as a primary contender for major construction projects across Scotland.”
