CHAP Group starts work on Aberdeen council housing development

CHAP Group hosted a commemorative golden shovel event at its Craighill housing site in Kincorth, Aberdeen, to mark the commencement of construction.

The event brought together Aberdeen City Council representative Councillor Miranda Radley and CHAP’s site team. Attendees participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking, symbolising Aberdeen City Council’s commitment to providing quality living spaces for Aberdeen residents.

The Craighill Housing project is set to deliver 87 modern, energy-efficient homes, built to The Gold Standard for Sustainability and designed to meet the needs of families and individuals in the area. This initiative is part of Aberdeen City Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance local affordable housing and support sustainable community development.

“We are excited to reach this important milestone in the Craighill project,” said Malcolm Thomson, operations manager at CHAP Group. “Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality homes that will not only provide somewhere to live but also foster community spirit and sustainability.”

Communities, Housing and Public Protection Committee convener Councillor Miranda Radley said: “I am delighted that work will shortly begin on providing new homes at Craighill. Aberdeen City Council are committed to providing high quality homes for our tenants across the city and I look forward to seeing how the site progresses.”

Construction has now started on site with completion of the £26 million development anticipated by April 2026. The Craighill Housing project is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Aberdeen City Council, design team members; AtkinsRéalis, jmarchitects, CCDP, Ramsay & Chalmers and CHAP Group as the principal contractor.
